Learning Outdoors Walking Group
We meet every Thursday at 10am for a 6-7 mile walk. We are probably different from other U3A groups because we aim to learn about the landscape we are looking at, whether it is history, geology, birds, rivers or plants and trees. We devise the walks around a theme for each month. Past themes have included ancient route ways, reservoirs, literary walks, industrial history and many other subjects. We car share and have a refreshment stop at the end of our walk around 2.30-3pm. New members can expect to lead when they feel comfortable to do so. From late spring, through to summer and into early autumn we often travel up to an hour to start a walk. During the winter months we explore more local interest.
