Date Walk Leader
Wed July 3rd Enter Youlgreave from Bakewell and park on Conksbury Lane – the road you enter the village. It is the road opposite the Church with the George hotel on the corner. Map ref 212 643. Post code DE45 1WL. Walk

from Youlgreave via Bradford Dale to Middleton and over fields to Alport. Steepish walk down road at start then moderate ups  and downs, cows and easy stiles. 5 miles


Tues July 9th Meet at The Ford Ridgeway public car Park. The entrance is the left turn between the small cottage(that used to be the public loo) and the Bridge Inn car park. S12 3YD ref SK403805. It is at the very bottom of the village and is free. The walk will be approx 5 miles with a few stiles and hilly terrain and some paths will have loose stones etc.


Wed July17th Meet at North Anston Community car park, behind the houses opposite Anston Brook primary school. Map ref 842521. Post code S25 5DP.

Walk via Rackford farm to Woodsets, returning past Lindrick golf course and northern edge of Anston Stones wood. Distance approx 4.5 miles. An easy walk with no stiles.


Tues July 23rd Meet at Dennis Knoll map ref SK 227843. A walk up Stanage Pole and view of the surroundings. Then down towards the road and onwards to North Lees and Green’s house and back to Dennis Knoll. About 5 miles.


Wed July 31st Meet at lay-by on Town  Lane, Kimberworth/ Greasbrough S61 ( more details re parking nearer the date)

Roman Ridge walk over fields, roads and woods. Suitable for all with easy stiles-4.77 miles

Tues Aug 6th Meet at Ashford in the Water car park map ref 195697.

Walk via Ashford, Magpie Mine and Sheldon. Steepish, steady climb to start( not too long, on a good path). Two awkward stiles.

Distance 4 and a half miles.


Wed Aug 14th Meet at lay-by below The Grouse pub ref 252774. Walk via Longshaw and White Edge. One short, steep climb.Approx 4.5 miles


Tues Aug 20th Meet at Wheata, Wharncliffe and Greno woods car park on Woodhead Road S35 8RS. Map ref SK327947. Mainly a walk on woodland tracks, bridleways and a bit of road. There are some slopes and if it is wet will be muddy in places.Approx 4.5 miles



Wed Aug 28th Meet outside Charles Cotton hotel in Hartington. Grid ref 128604. Postcode SK17 0AL

Walk to Pilsbury Castle and Carder Low. Two steep climbs, one up and one down and 7 stiles. 5.5 miles

Tues Sept 3rd Meet at Ughill Road car park on north side of A57 about 1 mile before Cutthroat Bridge map ref 227885. Car share to Cutthroat Bridge to start walk across Moscar Moor, along the base of Stanage edge, across the A57 to Moscar Cross and back to the cars at Ughill Road to car share again. Distance 4.25miles.

Pat is  happy to complete the walk back to Cutthroat Bridge which adds a further 1.25miles and involves a very difficult crossing of a small stream at the end – for mountain goats only!


Wed Sept 11th  Meet at Blacka Moor Wood car park on A625 Hathersage Road, grid ref SK277805, just before LH turn along Stony Ridge Road and about half a mile after passing Peak National Park sign. Walk NE through woods, cross Houndkirk Moor, circle Stony Ridge and Blacka Hill. Less than 5 miles, easy gradients and some unevenness under foot.  
Tues Sept 17th Meet at top end of Monyash Road in Over Haddon. Take the B5055 out of Bakewell towards Monyash. After a mile or so there is a left turn signed to Over Haddon. On entering the village take the first right and park. DE45 1 HZ.

Walk over fields and lanes to Bakewell and back via Lathkill Dale. There is a very steep walk up the road at the end, but plenty of resting places and possibility of waiting for a lift.

Distance 5 miles.

Wed Sept 25th Bretton Park. Leave M1 at Junction 38, signed Huddersfield. After half a mile in Bretton see sign on right towards P at the Community Centre, turning left to the centre after approx 100 yards. Park in the yard behind the brick built centre. Donations in the honesty box instead of the costly £11 in the park.  

Members of the group are invited to the De La Salle Club behind Beauchief Hall at 8pm on the second Wednesday of each month to socialise with other U3A and De La Salle members.
