Urgent Request for Help for the NHS

There is a big push at the moment in Sheffield (as well as other regions) to help the NHS in practical ways.
This is a request for members with sewing machines, or who have friends with sewing machines or who are good at fundraising to help. This would not only help the NHS but as a practical useful activity it is very rewarding for people feeling frustrated that they are unable to help.
Local NHS and other care providers need scrubs, laundry bags, facemasks and headbands ( to protect their ears from constant facemask use).
If you go to the website https://sheffieldscrubs.wordpress.com/ and click on the left hand side “Volunteer” it will take you to a page all about volunteering to make scrubs.
If scrubs are a bit too much for you there is a button at the bottom of the page “Not up to making scrubs..” That will take you through to the group coordinating laundry bags, face masks and headbands. There you will find patterns, advice, access to materials and your local hub – allocated by postcode.
If you cannot sew, they are looking for donations of fabric. Old but still strong sheets and pillow cases will make laundry bags and headbands. Facemasks are best made from 100% cotton.
Elastic and ½ in to 1 in buttons are also needed desperately.
For your information the link to the table of requirements (via airtable) shows the scale of the problem. https://airtable.com/shrhkJk7cyb4obgVc/tblY4ocBgCKEziwqQ?blocks=hide
If anyone would like to volunteer and doesn’t have Facebook they are welcome to email me (Alison Riocreux riocx1@fastmail.com) for information.
An example of the requests we are receiving is below, and for this request 14 are being made. We really need more people sewing if at all possible.

Hi all,
We are in the process of setting up a community RED hub for North East Derbyshire Primary Care Network to operate from, where we will be seeing and treating COVID19 patients. We need to source some scrubs as soon as possible with a hope that we can be operating out of the hub, ready for the peak time, predicted to be over Easter. Can anyone help?
Plain colours if possible please.
XL – 2
Large – 17
Medium – 16
Small – 8
If possible, bags to transport scrubs to laundry facilities would be very useful too
Huge thanks to you all
