The session is held in German and most members have a formal background in German acquisition like an old O or A level. Several have a connection to German-speaking countries through family or work links, and all have an interest in German culture, politics and history. Texts studied include articles from contemporary German newspapers. The focus of the group is on spoken German mainly through pair work, but also at times in the larger group. Vocabulary is reviewed and expanded. Occasional grammar refreshers are interspersed.
