We usually walk for 2 to 3 miles in a given area and explore the landscape looking for flowers, insects, birds, and fungi etc. After the walk we may go to a cafe or pub.Home Page U3A Natural History meetings 2024 Meetings start at around ten and finish at lunchtime. They are usually on the third Thursday of the month although there are two meetings in July and none in January 

15th February Canal walk from Meadowhall toward the City centre.  Meet at Meadowhall South/Tinsley tramstop at 1000 Al and John 21st March General Cemetery. Meet at the main cemetery gates on Cemetery Avenue off Ecclesall Road  Tim 

18th April First Bamford walk. Meet at the bottom of Mytham Bridge (cul de sac SK 204825) This is the first turn left off the A6013 after the traffic lights  Ken 

16th May Padley Gorge. Meet on the B6521 near the ice cream van. SK258799 Bridget 

20th June White Rake. SK 193746 From Calver crossroads take the A623 toward Stoney Middleton. Pass through the village and drive just over 2 miles past Housley to a left hand turn to Cavendish Mill. On the minor road bear right at the sign to Cavendish Mill and then left toward Longstone Edge. Park on the minor road on the left. Robin and Janet 

4th July Second Bamford walk. Meet at the Recreation Ground SK204829. This is the first turn left after the railway bridge on the A6013 but ignore the campsite entrance. Ken 

25th July Coombsdale. Meet at the parking area at the bottom of Coombsdale on the A623. SK236751 Al and John 

15th August Hartington Meadows. Car Park at Hartington old station on the Tissington Trail. Car park charge, toilets. Sk150611 Sue 

19th September Pleasley Pit. Car park at old colliery, Pit Lane. SK499644 Al and John 17th October Loxley/Wadsley Common. At Hillsborough, Malin Bridge take the B6077 signed to Dungworth and after passing the cemetery on your left take the right turn (Long Lane) up the hill and shortly after the left turn to Holdworth turn right into the car park. 21st November Old Moor RSPB reserve. Meet in reserve car park. Leave the M1 at Junction 36 and take the A61 (Barnsley). At the small roundabout continue on the A6195 (Doncaster) for about 4 miles. Follow the brown RSPB reserve signs. SE422022. RSPB membership card, fee if not a member. Toilets and cafe. Bridget
