In this group we aim to read a very wide selection of play scripts, including both the classical standards, and thought provoking ( sometimes controversial ) 21st century drama. Examples of recent scripts include Shakespeare in Love ( stage version), The curious incident of the dog in the night, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Witness for the Prosecution . If you would like a copy of our list of what we will be reading over the next year, do get in touch .

We access scripts not only locally from Sheffield, but from other libraries, giving us access to over 10,000 sets of plays.

The group  help draw up the programme of plays, and individual members can introduce and cast a play if they wish- but anyone who  prefers to just come along and read is equally welcome.

You don’t have to worry if you haven’t had any experience of play reading previously, enthusiasm and interest is what is needed.

The group is friendly and sociable, and we meet every month on the first Thursday, (plus an extra session in months with 5 Thursdays) You will get some information about the play and the characters a few days before the session to give you some insights about the forthcoming selection, so if you think you will enjoy exploring and reading plays, do join us!.
