Walking Group R – Programme

Walks usually start at 10:00 am prompt. Some of us meet at 9:30 at the crescent by the entrance to Whirlow Brook Park to share cars.

Please be aware that from 12th July there may be road works affecting the Rails Rd entry into Stannington from Rivelin Valley Rd, if that is the case then use Tofts lane(towards the former Rivelin Hotel), Roscoe Bank , Long Line up to Oldfield Rd .Park in the lay-by on the north side of Hopwood Lane if accessible or on Oldfield Rd where it meets the west end of Nethergate. Please do not park on Nethergate as it is too narrow GR is SK 889299 Any problems ring Diana on 07773407152Route:As we are not starting until 1100 there is no coffee stop .Leave Nethergate, descend into Rivelin Valley, towards Malin Bridge, around into Loxley valley, lunch stop at Storrs , then Hilltop , Flash Farm and return to Stannington via Twentyfields, collect items for freshening up from cars before proceeding to Jane’s at Whitehouse Cottage , 66, Nethergate, S6 6DJ for bbq Walk approx 7 miles THERE MAY BE SHOWERS , If the walk is too much for anyone it will be possible to catch an 81 bus at Malin Bridge and alight at Stannington terminus Nethergate near the cars TAKE A BUS PASSJane,Pauline, Diana, Camilla, David J, Clare,John W, Chris G, John B,
21 Jul 25Clare C Change of walk to take advantage of the dry conditions on Brown KnollStart:Rushup Edge layby GR 092824Route: Pennine Bridleway, South Head, Brown Knoll, Airshaft, Igloo cairn. Hardly any stiles. About a quarter mile of yomping from the path to the airshaft. From there a trod to the igloo cairn. 28 Jul 25PhilStart: Free parking Sands Car Park Low Bradfield SK 2626 9204Route: High Bradfield, Cliffe House Farm, Kirk Edge, Agden Reservoir. Steady climb up to High Bradfield, field walking towards Kirk Edge. A few stiles with up and down hill terrain.
